Yes I adore golden hour for all its glowy glory but let’s not forget how awesome an overcast day is. There’s a very different quality to the light - colours are richer, shadows are squashed and the moooooood…. overcast days get even better the more stormy they are.
So don’t be put off by miserable weather on your shoot day - especially if it’s on the west coast. Those beaches were MADE for gloomy weather (hello, ‘the Piano’… if you haven’t seen the movie yet, go!!).
This session was early morning - not especially stormy but I love the monochrome vibe created by the cloudy skies. We were also lucky enough to be there at low tide so had all that mirror-sand magic going on too!
