Shooting at golden hour in high summer can be tricky with little ones, I hear ya! …but if there’s ever a time to break the bedtime rules, it’s for your family photos. The light has a quality you can’t find any other time of day - the shadows are long, the colours are dreamy and the light is so soft and flattering… plus, who doesn’t love some glowing, golden backlight and sun flare??!
If you’re wondering what the heck golden hour is, it’s literally the hour before sunset and the hour after sunrise, while the sun is really low on the horizon. I personally love the time after it’s set too (think soft, pastel hues and a dreamy glow from the sun below the horizon) so don’t be afraid to book your session right on sunset and get the magic mix of both types of light! :)
